Bel Sanga Bihaha

Bel Sanga Bihaha
Newari girls performing Bel Sanga Bihaha-rituals. Called Ihi in Newari (and sometimes spelled as Bel Biwaha) during this ritual the girls are being married to a bel (wood apple) which is symbolic for Lord Kumar, son of Lord Shiva.
The ceremony has to take place before the girls puberty and is mostly performed between the age of 7 and 9.
After the Bel Bihaha rituals the girl can never become a widow even when her husband dies as she is married to Lord Kumar.
